Violin Models

The majority of the violins I make are based on the work of Joseph Guarneri, Del Gesu. I have always been drawn to both the sound and the appearance of Del Gesu's violins and really enjoy making instruments based on his work.

As a starting point, I have been using two models, one based on the violins from around 1734-37, and the other on violins of the late period. Del Gesu’s violins tend to be on the small side, often with a slightly shorter string length, a feature that I often maintain in my own work. As a variation, I also make a version of the 1730’s model that is a little bigger and has the standard violin string length.
